WE ALL WANT TO BE A BETTER MOM. THERE ISN’T A WOMAN IN THE WORLD THAT THINKS SHE IS PERFECT, WHICH IS A SHAME BECAUSE MOST OF US ARE CLOSE TO IT.
HERE’S SOME FUN STUFF I JUST LEARNED.
Toddler Play
We all want our kids to be smart. There are many arguments as to how to achieve this. Well if you have a toddler, you already know it better be:
1. FUN
2. PREFERABLY WITH YOU
3. UNSTRUCTERED
So here are some great ways to help your little ones budding brain learn “HOW” to think, not “WHAT” to think. I learned this from listening to Bonnie Bruce from Chancy & Bruce Educational Resources, Inc. speak at our preschool. www.chancyandbruce.com
Each week we will cover one of the 10 Pathways to Learning.
This week:
#1 Gross Motor Development- The development and awareness of large muscles of the body.
TODDLER PLAY ACTIVITY
• Creep with opposite hand and knee striking the floor at the same time. I wasn’t sure how to do this myself, but it was fun making it up.
• Walk on tip toes and walk backwards. Maybe add some noise effects.
• Stand with hands at sides. On command have your child jump and spread his feet apart while he claps his hands above his head. It is super funny to watch them try this.
DEVELOPMENTAL SKILLS CONTINUUM
